The Tallahassee Builders Association Builder of the Year award is presented each year to a member who has demonstrated commitment to professional excellence. The award recognizes a builder who has contributed to furthering the goals and mission of the association through volunteer efforts within the association, the housing industry, in the community and charitable programs.

Larry Wayne Strickland and Capital City Builders have won multiple Awards over the years to include the TBA Remodelers Showcase Gold award in 2007, 2008 and 2009.

A member of Tallahassee Builders Association since 1982, Larry has served on various committees to include the Membership and Consumer Education Committee designing informative programs for members and the community. He was a founding member of the TBA Remodelers Council and chairman of the committee from 1992-93 and 2009-10. Larry was also a charter member of the Florida Green Building Coalition, serving as director in 2011-2012.

Larry's service has extended beyond his local association and into the community. He currently serves on the City of Tallahassee Post Disaster Redevelopment Council. At the state level, Larry has been a valuable member of Florida's Division of Emergency Management State Hazard Mitigation Plan Advisory Team and continues to serve the community whenever possible.

Larry Wayne Strickland's continued commitment and leadership in the home building industry makes Tallahassee Builders Association proud to recognize him as the 2011 Builder of the Year.
